- Our International Summer School offers you the chance to experience a unique British university and study programme, complete with field trips and excursions around the beautiful county of Yorkshire and the historic City of York. Over the course of three weeks (08 - 29 June 2013), you will pursue innovative academic study with a distinct British flavour, earning University credits at the same time.
Whether you wish to learn more about British history in this ancient city, express your creative talents through documentary film making or in creative writing, or embrace Gothic and Horror in 'England's most haunted city', you can pursue your dreams at York St John. Module options include: ‘Back to Black: Gothic and Horror’, delving into these fascinating genres across film, art and literature, ‘Making Britain: Nations, Culture and Identities’, spanning pre-Roman history to present day, to ‘Creative Writing’: experimenting with poetry, prose and scriptwriting, and ‘British Documentary Film’,enabling students to combine critical theories with practice to produce their own documentary films.
You will earn 10 University credits (equal to 3 US credits) on completion of the programme.

- York St John University, founded in 1841, welcomes international students from all over the world. At over 800 years old, the City of York is one of Britain’s most beautiful and historic cities and the UK’s second most important tourist destination after London. York St John’s green and idyllic campus is situated opposite the world famous York Minster cathedral and is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the city centre, with its many tourist attractions, shops and entertainment. Located in the heart of Britain, 2 hours by train from London and 2½ hours from Edinburgh, studying in York offers you easy access to the rest of the UK.
- Cost:
- The total cost of York St John International Summer School is £2,500. This includes all tuition costs, accommodation on campus including 3 meals a day (Mon-Fri), weekly field trips and excursions, full social programme and airport pick-up.
