Program Description:

A new international short course from Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London in collaboration with Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, Turkey, comparing two fascinating and creative cultures, looking at complementary art and design subjects from different viewpoints: Course areas include Architecture and Urban Planning, Graphic Design and Textiles. The iconic cities of London and Istanbul stand at opposite ends of Europe each as a gatekeeper to ancient crafts and traditions that have had a profound global influence. Discover these cities from an insider viewpoint with our experienced local tutors who bring these dynamic cities alive linking you from the artisans of the past to the cutting edge practitioners of the future.

Our courses are for portfolio-builders, current students, new professionals and creative individuals with an interest in typography, calligraphy, textiles weave and print and architectural design and history. All courses are taught in English and suitable for all ages (18+) and abilities with no prerequisites. During these four weeks (a total of 90 teaching hours, 10.00am to 4.00pm) students will be exposed to the latest, most relevant design thinking in their chosen subject from local and visiting English speaking tutors who are specialists in their fields, both as teachers and external practitioners often with their own businesses. Setting Description:

Starting in the vibrant, global metropolis of London with its wealth of sources of inspiration from the past to the present and ending in Istanbul, one of Europe’s oldest historical cities with great architecture and great weather. Central Saint Martins and Mimar Sinan have outstanding reputations for high-quality teaching and will use the expertise of full time staff and visiting lecturers to help you progress in your chosen field. Whilst you attend your courses you will also have free time to explore these dynamic cities and enjoy the galleries, museums, bars and theatres during the evenings and weekends.
