- Bangor is a small city with a big backdrop – Snowdonia National Park, known as the most beautiful national park in the United Kingdom. The city of 12,000 in northwest Wales is not on most tourists’ itineraries and, thus, a window into an authentic kind of rural life that treasures both education and the environment. On a stately 19th-century campus overlooking the city, you’ll find a host of topics and disciplines available to you. The psychology program at Bangor University is ranked in the top five in the U.K., and the school is known for other science and laboratory courses like oceanography, computer science and environmental studies. All the courses are in English, but you’ll hear and see the Welsh language and culture everywhere.

Most courses carry three semester hour credits. Final course registration takes places during Registration Week in Bangor.

At the heart of Bangor is the ancient St. Deiniol’s Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedral sites in Britain. The cathedral was founded in AD 525 some 70 years before the Canterbury Cathedral. Bangor is a bustling university city, home to Bangor University, a top-ranked UK institution with a population of approximately 10,000 students.
