Program Description:

There are three Master of Public Administration programs at West Chester University: General Concentraion, Human Resource Management, and Non-Profit. The general concentration is designed to equip studnets with the skills necessary to enhance the field of public service through positions both inside and outside the government in the nonprofit and even private sector, eg, as consulants to governmental organizations or as governmental service providers. The concentration is designed for individuals with professional work experience who desire to enhance their administrative and public management skills, as well as pre-service students who do not have professional experience. This concentration can be pursued concurrently with a graduate certificate in either sport management and atheltics or urban and regional planning. (36 credit hours) The Human Resource Management concentration is designed for professionals who seek to enhane their sills and qualifications in management and human resources. This dual-foces degree program enhances one's general management skills while also developing a strong human resource generalist foundation. Students will accomplish this goal by completing the administration core while complementing it with concentration in human resources. (36 credit hours) The Non-Profit program... Certificates are also available in Human Resource Management, Non-profit, Urban and Regional Planning, and General Concentration. Human resource management is an 18 credit hour certificate program that follows the master's program concentration without the general core courses. This program is oriented, in its setting, structure and culture, toward accomodating those who want to learn along side other working professionals. The non-profit administration certificate is a 12 credit hour program that follows the master's program concentration without the core classes. This is an appropriate program for students wishing to pursue a wide range of careers in the nonprofit field and those wanting to increase their management and supervisory skills that are specific to that of a non-profit organization. The Urban and Regional Planning certificate is an 18 credit hour program focusing on public sector issues.
