- Graduate Diploma in Dramatic Art (Direction) - (1 year coursework)
The course consists of six main inter-related subject areas. The first semester emphasises practical and theoretical work concerned with more traditional theatre forms, particularly the interpretation and development of dramatic texts. The second semester extends the work of the director into areas of less traditional dramatic forms and performance making as well as providing opportunities for individual specialisation.Graduate Diploma in Dramatic Art (Design) - (1 year coursework)
The course consists of six subjects: Designing for Theatre, Design Projects, Theatrecraft Methods, Design and Light, Planning and Management and Theatre Seminar. All students will undertake all subjects, however, on entry to the course students will be appraised upon their previous experience; skill level and qualifications will be taken into account, their needs identified and assignments and projects devised to suit each student. The course provides opportunities for each student to design VCA productions in drama, opera, dance and film and television as well as structured classes in the skills required of a professional designer.Graduate Diploma in Animateuring (1 year coursework)
A one year course in cross-modal performance based in the School of Drama. Animateuring involves the creation of new performances through :- the mobilisation of expressive, artistic and imaginative faculties in a variety of artistic and community contexts;- the capacity to work within and across art forms;The animateur is a skilled performance artist with a central commitment to artistic leadership. He or she may be involved in various ways with the processes of creation, direction, facilitation and performance. The role played is a pivotal one, with the success measured not only in artistic terms, but other indicators such as level of community support, participation, ownership and achievement of social and political goals.
