Computing science has a large impact on our everyday lives and the boundaries of its application are shifting at an increasing rate. Computing science nowadays provides, for example, for the configuration of robust timetables that are able to adapt to emergency situations; it offers decision-support systems to help veterinary practitioners in the early detection of outbreaks of infectious disease; it provides for analysing large-scale data sets of genome expressions to support identification of the genes that are involved in disease and mutation. Computing science, more in general, provides a range of techniques for solving many complex problems in science and industry.
