Program Overview
- Program Description:
- Ursuline College’s Master of Science in Nursing program offers three specific tracks: Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist. A concentration in Palliative Care and Nursing Education may be added to any track. A holistic, values-based education in the Catholic tradition is provided through the nursing school, and graduates are prepared to practice in a manner that is competent, caring and reflective of high standards. While clinical knowledge and skills are mastered by nursing students, the human spiritual element is also emphasized directly through connections with patients and their families. Students in all tracks take the core courses to enhance their understanding of theoretical concepts, research, technology, health organization, and policy/issue/roles. Advanced practice core courses are taken to gain an appreciation of and skills for direct patient care as an advanced practice nurse. A minimum of 600 practicum hours are necessary for all tracks except Family Nurse Practitioner, which requires 750 hours. Ursuline College’s Breen School of Nursing is approved and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Ohio Board of Nursing. Ursuline College is also regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
