Program Description:

The goal of the graduate programs is to train professional physiologists who have the potential to make significant contributions to the discipline of physiology. Graduates of the Master's program will be capable of collaborating in research, and of teaching the discipline. Graduation from the Doctoral program is an essential step in a career of independent research. Generally, however, it will be necessary to complete a period of post-doctoral research training to ensure success as an independent investigator whether this be at the university or in inudstry. Individuals receiving combined M.D./Ph.D. degrees will, after specialty training, be prepared to enter careers in academic medicine.To achieve these goals, the student, with the help of a supervisor and an Advisory Committee, develops and completes a research project, leading to the preparation of a thesis, and actively participates in the scientific activities within the Department
