Program Overview

Program Description:

The Department offers training in word processing and computer skills and provides up-to-date computing facilities and a common room for all registered postgraduate students. Students also have access to language courses provided within the University. We organise various conferences, seminars and workshops at which leading members of the profession, as well as our own research students, give presentations. The Department also organises a programme of regular visiting speakers from outside the University so that postgraduate students are always kept in touch with the latest developments in our field. We have extensive links with universities in western Europe through the SOCRATES scheme, with EU funding available for research visits to participating institutions. We also have strong links with several eastern European universities. The Department also hosts the Callaghan Centre for Conflict Studies. The University Library has extensive holdings of teaching and research materials in the areas covered by our Masters schemes and research topics.
