Program Overview

Program Description:

The MSTP at UT Southwestern trains the next generation of M.D./Ph.D. physician-scientists who will lead the future of academic medicine. A highly integrated program, a dedicated and collegial faculty and an unusually intense and hands-on clinical experience await the prepared student.  The UT Southwestern MSTP welcomes applications from all applicants regardless of state or country of residence or origin. We are especially interested in encouraging diversity in the research enterprise by welcoming applications from individuals belonging to groups which are historically underrepresented in medical and research careers.

The UT Southwestern MSTP welcomes applications from all applicants regardless of state or country of residence or origin.  Application to UT Southwestern's MST Program requires completion of the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) On-Line Application. This application will permit you to submit essays describing your interest in the integrated M.D./Ph.D. program and is the only application form you must submit for the UT Southwestern MSTP. AMCAS will collect and forward additional supporting documents, including official transcripts & MCAT scores (GREs are not required).  Three or more letters of recommendation, including letters from all research mentors, should be sent to UT Southwestern MSTP via AMCAS Letters or other electronic submission service. Please ask referees to comment specifically on the nature of your project(s) and your potential as a research scientist.  Please note that the deadline for the AMCAS application is December 1, 2009 for admission to the entering class of 2010.
