Program Description:

Earn a Master's degree in Health Care Administration in four consecutive semesters. Classes provided in 2 portions by nationally-recognized faculty: 1) onsite intensive week; 2) online. Description uttyler.edu/ehca Known as the EHCA, our program is taught in an executive format across four semesters. The classroom portion of each course is taught in an intensive week with the remainder of the course delivered online. The Executive Health Care Administration MPA Program is in the Department of Social Sciences at The University of Texas at Tyler. The EHCA Program is designed for busy health care professionals and administrators who have reached a point in their careers where they need advanced skills and knowledge to manage staff, organizations and health systems. An essential characteristic that distinguishes the EHCA graduate programs is both the academic and field experiences of the faculty. Faculty members of the EHCA Program have held positions such as: Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Strategic Planner, Hospital Marketer, Health Policy Analyst and Health Care Consultant. Students in the EHCA Program have diverse backgrounds including hospital administrators, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, nursing facility administrators, consultants, etc. Admission criteria are strict and enrollment is limited to twenty-five highly qualified students. Students begin in the Fall semester, complete thirty-six credit hours in twelve courses, and graduate 16 months later in December of the next academic year (four semesters in total). The EHCA is designed to maximize the transfer of knowledge between the students in each cohort. Each of the twelve courses is taught by experienced healthcare professionals. Each semester consists of two components: an intensive on-campus seven day week followed by online exercises, lectures and examinations.

Who is eligible for admission to the program? Individuals with at least three years of health care experience, who have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The EHCA Program admits one cohort of 25 students each Fall; the program does not admit students in the spring and summer terms.
