Program Description:
The UT Arlington MA degree in criminology and criminal justice offers a comprehensive examination of the criminal justice system, an exploration of criminal and delinquent behaviors, a foundation in research and statistics, and an opportunity to explore other relevant topics of interest to the student. The program is designed to meet both the needs of working professionals in the criminal justice field and pre-professional students who wish to pursue a career in the criminal justice criminal justice field. The program includes 18 hours of core criminology and criminal justice coursework. Students may customize their degrees by selecting a concentrations such as elective hours to such as sociology, political science, corrections, policing, or they may select a multidisciplinary approach to a particular focus, such as administration or research. Students may select a non-thesis option that requires a comprehensive examination or a thesis option is generally recommended for students wishing to pursue further education in professional schools or doctoral level studies. The MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice is offered on campus and at the UT Arlington Fort Worth Center. The on campus program is designed for pre-professional students, criminal justice professionals, and students who wish to pursue further relevant post-graduate studies. The cohort program is offered at the UT Arlington Fort Worth Center. In the cohort model students stay together as a group throughout their studies, taking weekday evening courses two nights per week and can complete the program in just 24 months.
