Upon completion of the course, they should be familiar with the normative and institutional system of human rights and the procedures by which they are applied in domestic (national) legal and administrative terms. They should also be familiar with the historical, philosophical and political background and their current context, including the obstacles confronted in the realisation of universal rights. Particular attention will be given to the development of critical analysis of the problems arising within their own societies and ways by which the obstacles can be overcome.
