The aims of the programme are to:- Provide students with a thorough theoretical understanding of the reasons for and different viewpoints on global inequality and poverty with an emphasis on linkages between local contexts and international forces
- Strengthen the students' empirical knowledge on selected themes
- Train the students in field methods such as household surveys, quantitative and qualitative approaches and proper use of statistical sources
- Give the students an insight into development planning and aid problems, which may be of practical use for them when they return to their home countries.
