The Department of Media Arts offers course work leading to a Master of Arts or Master of Fine Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film.
The M.A. degree has an emphasis in industry studies or critical-cultural studies.
Our M.F.A. program, with an emphasis in documentary production and studies, is one of the few in the nation and the only program of its kind in the region. Using a wide variety of professional, high definition cameras, rigs, audio gear and various postproduction platforms, you'll be engaged in rigorous and ambitious production opportunities, while being immersed in the history and current theories of the global, documentary genre.
Outstanding faculty and student support
You'll receive instruction from internationally recognized scholars, seasoned media professionals and award-winning filmmakers. They've written textbooks used in courses throughout the world and had film and video productions broadcast on TV and screened at prestigious national and international venues.
Many faculty members also work with national and international organizations dealing with media education and film preservation.
Because of the quality instruction they receive, our students have earned grants for rigorous research projects and had productions screened at domestic and international festivals.
We provide opportunities to study abroad and do research and production in London, Cuba and other international locations. In addition, there is an established student/faculty exchange program with the University of Sunderland (United Kingdom).
UNT provides a wide variety of services exclusively to graduate students. The Graduate Student Writing Support office can help you with writing, and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research offers assistance with statistical research.
The Toulouse Graduate School® offers several professional development workshops, including a Thesis Boot Camp. Many of the workshops are available online for your convenience.
