- The online Master of Science (MS) or Post-Master's Certificate with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Specialization prepares you for advanced practice in family primary care nursing. As an FNP, you will have advanced diagnostic reasoning and clinical problem-solving skills. Through the full- or part-time, online programs you will learn to: -Integrate theory, research, and experiential knowledge and evidence-based practice into advanced nursing practice. -Demonstrate competence in advanced nursing practice consistent with applicable professional standards. -Practice in the development of nursing science through evidence-based practice, research and theory. -Integrate relationships between social, cultural, political and economic issues and health care delivery. As a graduate of the programs, you will: -Manage client health/illness status. -Implement a therapeutic nurse-client relationship. -Teach and coach health maintenance. -Function as an advanced practice nurse. -Manage and negotiate within complex health care delivery systems. -Monitor and ensure quality of health care practice. -Practice with cultural competence. Designed for nurses with a bachelor's degree (master's for certificate) who are unable to attend traditional, on-campus classes. You will participate in most class activities at the time and place of your choice. During the 1st and 3rd semesters (full-time curriculum) of your programs, you will be required to visit the UND campus in Grand Forks, ND, for 1 WEEK. The on-campus components of the programs are meant to integrate, extend, and apply the knowledge you learned in previous courses and readings. You will also complete a clinical practicum (700 hours) in or near your home community. Pay in-state tuition rates for online courses regardless of where you live. Compared to paying the out-of-state tuition rate, this can translate into big savings for you!
