Program Description:

MUÆs online master of education program, with a focus in literacy, offers practicing educators a masterÆs degree with an emphasis in learning and instruction at either the elementary or both middle school and secondary levels. The literacy focus assists K-12 classroom teachers in improving instructional methods for teaching literacy skills and is designed to aid educators in helping students become effective readers and writers. The core course work includes study in learning theory, instructional technology, instructional leadership, instructional strategies and measurement and assessment, and action research. All core courses are online and accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. Student select focus courses from reading, writing, literature, literacy technology and/or journalism education. Focus area courses include a combination of online course work and campus visits. No thesis is required. This program does not provide reading certifications.
