Program Description:
The major research divisions and training programs of the Department are: Cardiovascular Science and Disease Endocrinology & Metabolic Disease Neurosciences and Spinal Cord Injury Respiratory Physiology and Disease In addition to laboratory-based research training, the graduate program consists of basic courses in physiology, cell biology, molecular biology, and electronics for scientists, as well as numerous specialty courses designed to meet the needs of students in each of the major Divisions of the Department. The Department of Physiology at the University of Manitoba is one of the leading research departments in Canada, offering exceptional opportunities for graduate training in a number of areas of medical science. Physiology provides a training environment for future scientific leaders and outstanding contributors to medical research - the Department provided the early training for many of the leaders in medical research in Canada and elsewhere. The Department strives to maintain internationally competitive research programs, providing a strong research and training environment for students.

Requirements:
Applicants to the Master’s program require a four-year undergraduate degree (or equivalent). Normally, a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university is the minimum requirement for admission to the Ph.D. program. See the Department website for full admission requirements.
