Program Description:

Occupational Therapy is a dynamic and growing profession that contributes to the health and well-being of individuals and communities, spanning many sectors of society. The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) is a comprehensive, high-quality and innovative entry-to-practice program integrating a rigorous schedule of academic and fieldwork courses. Academic courses utilize teaching and learning methods that combine: seminars & lectures clinical skills laboratory sessions case studies tutorials problem-solving exercises independent study collaborative group work professional portfolio development Fieldwork courses are integrated throughout the program and progress from basic skills to the application of advanced knowledge of theory and best practices. Fieldwork placement opportunities exist in a variety of diverse settings, and provide students with exposure to occupational therapy roles while allowing the opportunity to integrate theory with practice. Our program is one of the smallest across Canada, accepting up to 50 students each year. This student-centered approach to teaching and learning is supported by many dedicated, keen and experienced faculty members who bring a variety of expertise to classroom and lab sessions, and are committed to the ongoing learning and implementation of new teaching techniques and approaches. The fieldwork or practical component of the program is facilitated by more than 200 clinical educators who mentor and teach students within community and clinical settings, providing real-life experience. The Department of Occupational Therapy is part of the School of Medical Rehabilitation (SMR), located on the Bannatyne campus in downtown Winnipeg. Students have access to state-of-the-art classroom and lab facilities along with many other resources, including the Health Sciences Library and Bookstore, the Clinical Learning and Simulation Facility, the Joe Doupe Recreation Centre, and the Brodie Centre food court.

For the M.O.T. (Regular) program, applicants require a three or four-year undergraduate degree with specific course pre-requisite and grade requirements. See the Department website for full admission requirements. All applicants must also meet the minimum admission requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Possible Start Dates September
