Program Overview
- Program Description:
- Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a graduate program toward M.Sc., Ph.D. and/or MD-PhD degrees. It is an interdisciplinary program between the three faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Science, and the associated hospitals and medical industries. The main research areas of the program include, but are not limited to: Medical instrumentation and sensors Biological signal processing Biomedical image processing and reconstruction Gait analysis and rehabilitation Biophotonics Orthopaedic mechanics The BME graduate program offers a unique opportunity for students to extend their academic reach beyond traditional discipline boundaries. Students pursue collaborative projects between a student-specific combination of departments, faculties, local hospitals, and the medical industry. The program features a bi-weekly group meeting that provides a forum for graduate students and other researchers to share fascinating ideas and research. This collaborative environment is further cemented by two unique courses, BME for Engineers and BME for Life Science Students, which bridge the gap between biomedical engineering and the two main streams of engineering and life sciences backgrounds. By emphasizing the application of diverse knowledge to the formation of holistic solutions that improve human health, this program provides fertile ground for making the discipline-cutting connections that drive medical innovation in the 21st century. Non-invasive diagnosis of neurological disorders
