Just as it’s impossible to capture the diversity of younger people within one definition, older adults also defy one categorization. That is why UIndy’s master’s degree in gerontology offers both breadth and depth in promoting a positive and holistic view of aging.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (2014), 20 percent of the U.S. population is projected to be age 65 or older by the year 2030. There is no better time to study the one characteristic that unites all humans – we are all getting older. Our program helps students understand that aging is part of the life course and that choices we make and things that happen to us in our early years have an impact on our later lives.

No matter your undergraduate area of study, you can couple it with a master’s degree in gerontology to support, improve, and enhance the lives of the older adults where you live and work.
