Program Overview

Program Description:

The University of Indianapolis Master of Arts in Educational Leadership equips new school leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to confront the complex realities of today's schools. iLEAD (Inspiring Leadership in Education through Application and Dialogue) is a cohort-based program delivered through a convenient hybrid learning format. Students meet on campus five Saturdays each semester to engage in face-to-face interaction, and in the interim weeks, learn through dynamic web-based instruction. Faculty employ innovative technologies such as wikis, virtual classrooms, and Skype to facilitate real-time group collaboration and communication between faculty and students as they build leadership competencies and skills. Rather than only reading about the leadership theory, students engage in authentic experiences which will advance their careers and secure a future in school leadership. Students in the University of Indianapolis iLEAD program learn in small cohorts of 12-16 members and receive instruction from faculty who have demonstrated success as building and district leaders. The program employs both a superintendent and principal-in-residence, plus a full-time field experience coordinator to provide students with cutting-edge information. The curriculum reflects the knowledge that districts want from leaders to promote student and teacher learning. For students who already have a master's degree, the University of Indianapolis iLEAD program will enable you to become licensed as a building administrator.
