Program Description:
A degree in Agricultural Education will enable you to teach youth and adults leadership and life skills through agricultural coursework and activities. You will gain technical knowledge in agriculture and practical teaching skills. Learn to plan and teach coursework and educational activities as well as to manage out-of-classroom teaching facilities such as greenhouses or aquaculture ponds. Learn how to help students with supervised agriculture experiences (SAE) such as raising crops, caring for animals, conducting research, or working for a farm or other agricultural business. This major is a good stepping stone for becoming an extension educator at a state university. Both thesis and non-thesis options are offered. The M.S. (non-thesis) is a terminal program designed to provide a broader preparation than the M.S. with thesis. A professional paper is optional at the discretion of the candidate’s supervisory committee. A comprehensive examination is required which may be written and/or oral.
