- Program Description:
- Art Therapy is an emerging and dynamic field in the mental health profession, in which the process of making art is used for psychotherapy, education, rehabilitation and personal growth. The University of Haifa is the only accredited academic institution in Israel to offer a graduate degree in this vital and growing field. The Academic Program The MA in Art Therapy is a year-long program, taught over three consecutive semesters in English. Students will complete their academic coursework at the university during the fall and spring semesters. During the summer semester, students participate in a practicum and receive individual and group supervision. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an MA in Creative Arts Therapies with a specialization in Art Therapy. The objectives of the program include: - To expand research in the field of art therapy - To develop new, innovative and unique methodological models and intervention techniques - To enrich knowledge and expertise of practitioners - To improve the professional status of art therapists - To train the next generation of researchers, lecturers and clinical supervisors Fees: See program website for details. - General Admission Requirements An undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a minimum final grade of 80% (Israeli system), 3.0 GPA or equivalent Prospective students are required to complete prerequisite courses in introduction to psychology, physio-psychology, personality theories, developmental psychology, psychopathology/abnormal psychology, research methods and statistics Art-Based Prerequisites Each candidate will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis of the completion of 500 hours of training in the visual arts. - International Requirements:
- Candidates, who have not graduated from an academic institution where the language of instruction is English, or who are not native English speakers, must submit official TOEFL scores of at least 570 (in a written test), 230 (in a computerized test), or 89 (in an internet test) to be considered for admission.
