Program Description:

The Center for German and European Studies offers a unique curriculum for acquainting students with the major trends and topics related to the development of Germany and Europe after World War II, with a special emphasis on the Israeli and Jewish view of Europe and Germany. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and combines diverse areas of knowledge in economics, law, political science, geography, environmental studies, sociology, history, and literature. The MA program is organized in the spirit of the "area studies" model, which is common in studies of Asian countries, North America, and recently Israel studies. The program trains its graduates to fill a wide range of positions dealing with Europe and Germany in business, tourism, communication, cultural and public administration and indeed prepare its students for pursuing an academic/research career in those fields. Students must acquire a satisfactory command of German by studying 4-8 language hours per week. Students demonstrating sufficient command of the German language may be exempted from some these classes. An undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a minimum final grade of 80% (Israeli system), 3.0 GPA or equivalent. Completion of prerequisite courses.
