Program Overview

Program Description:
The theory of journalism, ethics, media law and government will provide you with the academic context of the course and the practical aspects will reflect the new environment in which journalists are no longer required only to provide material for a newspaper or radio station, but also for both traditional web platforms and social networks. You will be taught the practical skills needed as a multi-platform journalist, in the context of the current debates about ownership of media outlets and information, citizen journalism and the challenges of instant access to live news on 24-hour channels and ‘social’ news networks This course targets high-achieving graduates of courses in media, humanities, social and natural sciences, law and business. It will be of particular appeal to you if you have a specialist interest in your field and you want to use that in journalism as, e.g, a political or business reporter, arts correspondent, business or legal editor.
