Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The MSc in Computing (Information Security) provides you with the technical understanding and management skills required to ensure the security of data and networked systems. The aim of this course is to provide a practical introduction to information assurance. The course-specific modules are taught with reference to the different security roles and domains identified by the new Certification for IA Specialists recently developed by the UK government organisation, CESG. The modules provide a good foundation for the new certification. They have two components, first outlining threats to security, which may be external, from malicious software or hackers, as well as internal from disgruntled employees or simply a failure to back-up. The second component shows how these threats can be countered by appropriate security policies and technologies. The Course also focus on professional IT project management, database management, ethical and quality issues, the human computer interface and research methods, providing you with a broad and well-balanced perspective.
