- Program Description:
- Our Department is able to offer PhD Pure Mathematics as several members of staff have interests in this area, including semigroup theory, group theory (especially presentations) and several aspects of discrete mathematics, for example, graph theory. You work under the supervision of one or more of these members of staff. Your PhD typically involves wide reading round the subject area in your first-year, then gradually developing original results over your second and third-years before writing them up in a coherent fashion.
