Program Description:
Fire engineers specialise in the application of science and engineering principles to protect people and their environment from destructive fire. The MEFE is open to graduates from relevant branches of engineering and covers all aspects of fire safety in buildings and other structures, human safety and risk assessment. In the first half of the degree, students take block courses in areas such as fire dynamics and fire safety and systems. Online learning software is used to allow flexible programmes of study. At least two courses each year are offered through a combination of guided self-study and intensive block courses. The second half of the degree requires a thesis or project. A PhD in Fire Engineering is also available.
