Program Description:

The interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the UCSD campus makes for an environment of substantial depth and breadth, vibrant with the excitement of exploration and invention. Our educational philosophy is to give students an opportunity to go beyond the core curriculum and pursue electives and independent study that take full advantage of the resources available at UCSD and in the surrounding region, helping them to become expert clinicians and scientists who are aware of, and responsive to, community needs. Located on the main campus of the University in La Jolla, the School of Medicine is surrounded by academic resources and research institutions representing a variety of disciplines. Clinical instruction takes place throughout the San Diego area, at the UC San Diego Medical Center, the VA San Diego Healthcare System, the Naval Regional Medical Center, and the Rady Children's Hospital San Diego, as well as seven other affiliated hospitals and clinics.
