Program Overview

Program Description:

COUNSELING, M.S. Combining theory with the human experience, the Master of Science in Counseling at UB offers professional preparation for counseling careers in a multitude of settings. Students share a core counseling curriculum with the remaining coursework related to human services and management. A hallmark of the program is the supervised field and internship experience, which adds depth and perspective to each students learning experience. There are also opportunities for students to network with alumni who are working in the field. With the help of an academic advisor, students plan an individualized program and can complete the program at a pace suitable for them, be it part-time or full-time. HUMAN SERVICES CONCENTRATION The concentration in Human Services is designed specifically for students who currently work in human service agencies and those who wish to advance their careers, particularly within positions of leadership and administration. The strong management focused curriculum centers around administration and supervision, human development, psychopathology and counseling. Classes are offered at our beautiful seaside campus in a flexible evening format with some online and weekend opportunities. They are taught by faculty members who are experienced counselors and university scholars adept at teaching adult students.
