Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The Capstone College of Nursing Graduate Program offers the MSN (Case Management for Rural Populations) and the MSN (Clinical Nurse Leader) via distance learning. Course delivery is innovative with all courses being accessible from the Internet and available at the same time as our regular semester schedule of classes. The focus on case management prepares advanced practice nurses to provide case management for rural populations. Case management is a collaborative process, which assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates options and services to meet an individual's health needs through communication and available resources to promote quality, cost effective outcomes. Graduates of this program will be able to practice in a variety of settings assuming positions as case managers. The clinical nurse leader focus prepares nurses to assume the role of clinical nurse leader for rural populations. This new role was developed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing as a way to provide the best possible cost-effective care for patients. The clinical nurse leader relies on skills in patient care and requires in-depth knowledge in quality management, nursing leadership, evidence-based practice and outcomes analysis. Graduates of the program are able to design, implement and evaluate care management at the point-of-care across all settings in which health care is delivered.
