Program Description:
A four-field approach is taken to the M.A. degree. This is designed as a two year program, in which each student completes a minimum of 30 credit hours, including core courses in the subfields of anthropology and a Research Methods course. Comprehensive examinations are written after completion of the first year in residence. Thesis and non-thesis options are available. The program emphasizes small lecture courses and specialized training through the tutorial format of seminars and individually directed research projects.

The Ph.D. program is organized into two tracks- (1) Biocultural Medical Anthropology, and (2) Archaeology of the Complex Societies of the Americas.
