Program Description:

This programme is designed to provide the initial training in research methodology that can be utilized to investigate the core physiology and biochemistry of bacterial and fungal pathogens. The development of the next generation of antimicrobial therapies will require a wide range of skills, including the ability to work as an individual within a multidisciplinary team and an understanding of the power of different molecular and DNA based technologies to unlock the problems posed by microbial pathogens. Graduates with a background in either a biological discipline or in one of the physical sciences wishing to gain a grounding in molecular aspects of medical microbiology will benefit from this programme.
