Program Description:

The Department is one of the oldest in Britain, offering excellent opportunities for research in Human and Physical Geography. These opportunities are based on significant advantages including: academic staff producing research of international quality, first-class facilities in a well-equipped building including specialised laboratories, international and national connections with academic institutions and government agencies, a diverse population of postgraduate students which reflects these links, a regional hinterland which provides a laboratory for geographical teaching and research in areas such as glaciology, hydrology, palaeoecology, transport and rural change; and an interdisciplinary perspective evident in active links with other Departments as diverse as Archaeology, Engineering, Geology, Biological Sciences, Computing Science, Sociology and Economics
