Program Overview

Program Description:

The course is overwhelmingly practical and concentrates on the development of professional production skills, techniques, and attitudes. Considerable emphasis is placed on the scripting, research and organisational skills required for television production, though students are also taught todevelop a range of technical skills such as camera operation and editing. All students are required to undertake a short period of work experience at either Granada TV or BBC North in Manchester. In addition, the course includes consideration of theoretical, professional and institutional concerns, both through formal teaching, and through contact with a variety of people working in the television industry.
