Program Description:

English Education is concerned with the teaching of literature and composition in secondary schools and with composition at the college level. Programs take a broad humanistic approach and emphasize research and practice in language, writing, and response to literature. Student programs include studies in theory, research, and practice. Doctoral programs may include courses in areas such as linguistics, anthropology, sociology, and women's studies, in addition to courses in the Department.
