Program Overview

Program Description:
The University of Grenoble exchange allows students with fluent French to directly enroll in coursework in all areas and in advanced classes in French as a second language. Students with less background in French enroll in language courses designed for foreign students. English majors will find a full program in literature and other topics all taught in English by the university's English department.

Students who wish to study for a full academic year who have at least one year of college-level French or the equivalent may enter the GUEST program, which will provide intensive training in French in the fall and then integrate students into regular university courses in the spring. Also available in the spring will be more advanced French courses designed for non-native speakers. Topics include grammar, conversation, writing, French society and culture, approaches to literature, literary topics, and translation. Students who come to Grenoble for one semester may enroll in courses designed for foreign students offered by the CUEF for one month along with classes designed for foreign students, or, if sufficiently advanced, may enroll in regular university courses. The language classes will meet in the evening, so students will be free during the daytime to attend the other courses. Exchange students directly enrolling in courses along with University of Grenoble students should look for courses of interest at the links below. You will be permitted to register for courses in all of the schools once you have registered with the International Office at Universite Stendhal, Grenoble 3, the school where languages are taught.
