Program Description:

An important element within the multi-disciplinary field of Computational Science is the development of new computational methods and techniques which are required to make processes computable. The characteristics of systems from various disciplines (physics, biology, chemistry etc.) contribute to a better knowledge and guarantee optimal use of existing expertise about complex systems. The aim of the programis to teach students how to integrate advanced computing with another scientific or engineering discipline and to overcome the usual barriers for such interdisciplinary work. Students become proficient in (numerical) modelling, high-performance computing technology, Scientific Visualization as well as in one or more applied disciplines. They are given the opportunity to work on very challenging problems, using the most advanced computing and visualization and virtual reality facilities.
