Program Overview
- Program Description:
- This is a joint program between the Tufts College of Engineering and Tufts School of Medicine. The program includes 8 years of study: 4 years in the College of Engineering and 4 years in the School of Medicine. At the end of the first 4 years, students earn a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the engineering disciplines, with an optional Minor in Biomedical Engineering or in Biotechnology. At the end of the second 4 years, they earn a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Doctor of Medicine degree. Students will take engineering undergraduate and graduate courses during the semesters and summers of the first 4 years. An internship in the medical industry is encouraged. During the next 4 years, work for a 3-credit Master thesis will be conducted in concurrence with medical courses. The thesis will be supervised by two faculty members: one in the College of Engineering and one in the School of Medicine.
