Program Overview

Program Description:
Leisure Studies provides a multidisciplinary perspective on developments in the availability and spending of free time, leisure consumption and the impacts of leisure on the economy, the environment and people’s well-being. It identifies the differences and trends in leisure behaviour and consumption and links this knowledge of developments in leisure demand to leisure supply issues for example issues of leisure policy, management and marketing. Although the boundaries between the various leisure sub-sectors such as sport, culture and tourism are becoming blurred, students have the opportunity to use assignments and the subject of their thesis to deepen their knowledge of one of these leisure sub-sectors. Programme The MSc in Leisure Studies is a one-year full-time English taught programme, starting at the end of August. The first semester is characterised by lecture courses. It consists of five courses: - Contemporary themes in sport, tourism and culture; - Dynamics in the leisure economy; - Leisure and space in the information society; - Leisure policies: state, market and community; and - Marketing and management in the leisure economy. There is a research seminar, preparing you for the Master’s thesis that you will write during the second semester (February to the end of June)
