Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The graduate program in the Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing requires a comprehensive foundation in the development of speech, language and hearing. This information is typically mastered in the TWU undergraduate program, through other comparable undergraduate programs or through a leveling sequence which includes a minimum of six hours in speech, six in language, four in audiology, six in sign communication, and three hours in deaf culture. ASL classes are typically taught by a deaf person. Our program ensures that the graduate meets the academic and clinical practicum requirements for the Certificate in Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology as well as licensure in Speech-Language Pathology granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
