Program Description:
  • Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) - This graduate degree is designed for individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and wish to obtain an initial elementary or secondary teaching certificate along with their master's degree. The graduate secondary certification program has two teaching field options: Social Studies Composite or English/Language Arts. Most full-time students in the M.A.T. program can complete the degree within three or four semesters. Because of the additional certification requirements, the M.A.T. degree is more than the traditional 36-credit hours.
  • Master of Education (M.Ed.) - This 36-credit hour graduate program is designed for classroom teachers who wish to pursue a degree which focuses on developing advanced skills in teaching, as well as enriching knowledge in selected content areas. The program is designed to enhance the candidate's appreciation of the art and science of teaching and the ability to understand and critically evaluate education theory and practice. The M.Ed. core courses include Introduction to Graduate Studies and Research,Foundations in Education, Biopsychosocial Dimensions in Education, and Emerging Issues in Education.
