Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education, this specialization includes the study of family systems and methods of achieving therapeutic change with relationship systems.The specialization offers all of the course work and the clinical experience required for Clinical Membership in AAMFT.

The Family Therapy Clinic, which is a part of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, provides supervised practicum opportunities for students enrolled in the Marriage and Family Therapy doctoral program. The Clinic serves clients from a wide area across the West Texas and Eastern New Mexico regions. Classrooms and observation rooms equipped with up-to-date video recording, sound recording, and playback equipment provide an added dimension to study in marriage and family therapy.
