Program Description:
For Spring Semester 2016, send your application by December 1, 2015 The program focuses on the initiation, development and expansion of technology firms in their early life. Here students will learn how to identify, value and capture business opportunities. It is tailored to high-tech minded students seeking to develop ideas into a start-up or work in an entrepreneurial environment in fields such as software, big data, cyber world, online media and related areas, and interested in exploring the Israeli entrepreneurial ecosystem. Conducted in English, it is suited to students studying all fields of engineering, computer science, business, communications and other related disciplines. Students study in classes with Israeli peers and live on campus. Practical training includes a 3-day boot camp and academic accelerator. Networking opportunities with entrepreneurs and company visits are also part of the program. Professional Internships at high-tech, start-up or engineering companies are offered. Internships range in length from 8 weeks to 8 months and can be arranged prior to or after the semester. Take advantage of affordable housing and excellent sports facilities.

All aspects of the entrepreneurship phenomena and ecosystem from both an academic and practical standpoint will be addressed, as well as the economic value of innovative firms, the entrepreneurial capital formation process, and the migration of managed economies towards entrepreneurial economies. The various financing mechanisms of start-up firms focusing on VC structure and operation will also be examined. The core of the semester will consist of a project to assist students to develop an idea into a business plan or start-up. Academic courses will include Introduction to Entrepreneurship and the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, Entrepreneurial Economics and Finance, Marketing for High-Tech Start-Ups, Negotiations and more.

The program combines academic studies with practice to introduce the Israeli-Technion start-up eco-system to our students. Students will study in classes with Israeli students and will take a variety of academic classes in areas of entrepreneurship and innovation offered throughout the semester, including business courses such as marketing, organizational behavior, negotiations etc. They will also receive personal mentoring in an accelerator environment to assist in developing their business idea. Students will also partake in meetings with entrepreneurs and visits to start-up/high tech companies. Students are offered Professional Internships at high-tech, start-up or engineering companies. Internships range in length from 8 weeks to 8 months and can be arranged prior to or after the semester. Extracurricular activities include a 3-Day Start-up Boot Camp (where students will brainstorm ideas, conduct market validation, develop business models, build prototypes, create branding and pitch to investors and successful entrepreneurs), trips around Israel, personal mentoring in an accelerated environment, visiting start-up companies and meeting technology entrepreneurs.
Setting Description:
The Technion’s beautiful 300-acre campus is located in Haifa, Israel's dynamic northern port city. It sits on the slopes of Mt. Carmel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
