Program Description:

SACI is offering a special intensive 6-credit program in Venice during the Biennale. The program is based on one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world—the Venice Biennale. Founded in 1895, the Biennale focuses on cutting-edge contemporary artistic practice and is at the forefront in the research and promotion of new artistic trends. For 4 weeks, students will tour the numerous Biennale exhibits, visit Venice’s great museums, and learn fundamentals of Digital Photography. They will live in Venice and, on weekends, travel to nearby Padua and the lovely islands of Burano and Murano. Founded in1975, SACI offers Academic Year Abroad, Academic Semester Abroad, Summer Studies, MFA in Studio Art, MFA in Photography, MA in Art History, MFA Communication Design, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Programs in Conservation and Studio Art.

On-Site Program Director Jacopo Santini will lead students on photo shoots throughout Venice, the neighboring islands, and Padua and instruct students in Photoshop, Camera Raw, and other editing programs. The goal will be to develop each student’s personal vision and to create portfolios of the highest quality. Art historian Richard Ingersoll will guide students to Biennale sites and Venice museums. Students will directly encounter Venice’s enormously rich art history and experience, through their Biennale visits, cutting-edge contemporary art from major international artists.

Participants will earn 3 studio art credits in Digital Photography and 3 art history credits in Contemporary Art.
