- Ph.D. in Vision Science Program Doctoral students complete 80 semester-hour credits of proseminars, tutorials, seminars and research. Students make an annual oral presentation, a dissertation proposal, take a specialty exam, and conduct a dissertation defense. Intensive training in selected areas of research concentration forms the basis of the required Ph.D. dissertation. The Graduate Program in Vision Science at the Graduate Center for Vision Research is devoted to teaching and basic and applied research in vision. It has the greatest concentration of vision scientists in the metropolitan area and is located in the beautiful Bryant Park area of Manhattan, across the street from the main branch of the New York Public Library and just minutes from Broadway.
