- The Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership is available to candidates who already possess teaching certification, a Master's degree in education or a related field, and three years of satisfactory teaching or professional experience in a Pre-K-12 setting. The program leads to a recommendation to the New York State Education Department for initial certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL). This certificate allows the candidate to assume such roles as superintendent, principal, assistant principal, supervisor, department chairperson, or program coordinator.
