Program Overview

Program Description:
The Graduate Criminal Justice program provides the opportunity for students to garner the skills and knowledge needed to manage local, state and national criminal justice organizations. The program prepares professionals to ethically lead a diverse workforce within service-oriented governmental and non-profit organizations. The program provides an education at the graduate level that assists students in acquiring an understanding of theoretical and practical concepts, attaining expert knowledge of the field, as well as developing superior management skills necessary for strategic decision-making and leadership. A unique component of the program is the inclusion of courses outside of the traditional criminal justice curriculum. By learning general business concepts such as strategic planning, organizational behavior, marketing and finance, graduates of the program will be able to successfully administer criminal justice and law enforcement agencies. Additionally, with the knowledge of multicultural theory, students will be prepared to guide a diverse work force, as well as remain competitive in the global market. The Graduate Criminal Justice program is offered on a flexible trimester schedule (Fall / Winter / Spring), to suit the needs of working adults. Classes are offered once a week in early evening with courses available on the Jersey City campus. For students wishing to accelerate their studies, summer courses are also available. Since 1872, Saint Peter’s College, the Jesuit College of New Jersey, has been educating students in the Jesuit tradition of "Men and Women in Service to Others." The College is committed to academic excellence, to spiritual and moral values, and to the individual personal development of its students.
