- Options The MED program offers specialization strands in six areas: Advanced teaching and learning, English language learner (ESL), guidance and counseling, principal / program administrator, reading literacy, and special education. Reputation Our graduates are well prepared by a rigorous program and excellent faculty. An education degree from Saint Martin's University opens doors because of the stellar reputation of our program and our graduates. Flexibility We designed our schedule to work with your schedule. Our program is the only non-cohort based program in the area. This means that you aren't locked into a fixed schedule and you have the flexibility to adapt the program to your needs. Convenience The MED program special education strand is also offered at the Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) with some classes also offered at Clover Park school district, making it convenient for those in the military, their spouses and those in the community near the base.

- Saint Martin's education programs are approved by the Washington State Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) and the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Our teacher certificate programs are accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).

- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited (or equivalent) college or university. Applicants (except those applying to the guidance and counseling strand) must have at least one year of relevant work experience in the field of education, usually under contract in a state-accredited school. Other work experience involving students is considered on an individual basis. Overall 3.0 undergraduate GPA or graduate coursework GPA (those not meeting these criteria may be admitted conditionally) Graduate Record Examination (GRE) combined verbal and quantitative score of at least 291 (new version) or 850 (old version) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score of at least 386.
- International Requirements:
- International students must submit proof of English proficiency in one of two ways: An undergraduate degree from a U.S. institution where the English is the language of instruction or An official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report (less than two years old) sent directly from the testing agency. For full admission we require a 79 IBT/213 CBT/550 PBT on the TOFEL or 6.5 band score on the academic version of the IELTS. Those students who do not meet the minimum required English proficiency but are otherwise admissible will be conditionally admitted through our ESL program. Saint Martin's University is the sole judge of an applicant's English proficiency.
